Umami Steamed Egg🥚

  • 2 Eggs
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1/2 Tsp Sesame Oil
  • Chives/Green Onions

Appliances - Steaming pot, mixing bowl, regular ceramic bowl for steaming, strainer, whisk or chopsticks

Prep your steaming pot(whatever you have on hand) with water and let your pot get to a boil while you prep the eggs. 

In a mixing bowl, add eggs, whisking until beaten. Then adding 3/4 cup of room temperature water mixing until homogenous. 

Strain egg mixture into steam/heatsafe ceramic bowl, making sure to spoon out any extra bubble from the top. 

Cover with saran wrap then steam in steamer for 13 mins or so. 

Once your timer goes off, let sit for 6 mins after, with the heat off, letting cool before removing from the pot. Scoring with a knife is optional but it helps the following ingredients get into the egg.

Adding “sauce”

Start with the Sesame oil, then soy sauce, then chives. Making sure to tilt the bowl, letting the sauce seep down the cracks!
